A happy baby from now on!!!

This post is more of a vent than anything. Sunday night and Monday night were unhappy nights at our house. Mia got a little off schedule while I was out of town - not Ryan's fault, she just wasn't used to being away from me. Ryan did a great job while I was gone!!! Anyway, I'm just tired of reading all the books, magazines, and websites about how babies need to put themselves to sleep, need to be in bed by 7:30, need to sleep all night in their own crib in their own room, must breastfeed, ect....They make you feel like a terrible mother if you don't follow all of the "rules" of parenting an infant. Well, no more! Mia is a happy baby and a good baby - until you try to make her schedule too strict. The first 5 months of her life have flown by and she will only be a baby for a short while. I'm going to enjoy every minute of it and make her as happy as she can possibly be. I am a good mother and I love my daughter more than anything in the world and I'm going to raise Mia the best way I see fit. I am sure I will make mistakes along the way, but we'll learn from them and keep chugging along. I just hate it took me 5 months to realize that I'm the best resource for raising my daughter.
Sorry for the vent. After deciding all of this, we had a WONDERFUL night last night. Mia is such a sweet baby and a joy to raise. Ryan and I are so lucky to have her!

AMEN! It took me awhile to figure that out too. Claudia does not do well with strict scheduling. I rock her to sleep and at night she gets milk to go to sleep. She sleeps thru the night and she is happy. What more could I ask for? I don't have a textbook baby. But what we do works for us. We are a MUCH happier family when we do it "our" way! I know you are a good mother and DO NOT let anyone or any book make you feel otherwise. Babies have been rocked to sleep and not on schedules for centuries and they turn out just fine! ENJOY her. She will only be a baby once!

Sounds like you feel a bunch better. I hope I didn't offend you guys by sharing stuff. I knew right off that girls were different than boys, I have only had one baby and am far from and expert! :) In fact, when my little girl bundle arrives, we'll see how much different these babies are! LOL! Oh sweet goodness what have I done??? LOL!
